Corporate Scholarships & Internships
The Institutional Diversity Initiatives and Pipeline Programs Office continuously seeks corporate support and external funding in the form of scholarships, co-ops, and commitments to summer internships. This effort occurs in conjunction with the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations.
The most productive relationships are those in which the corporate liaison becomes involved in the student's academic effort. Such support reinforces, on a year-round basis, the connection between the corporation and the student.
Other Linkages and Activities
Contributions from corporations permit Institutional Diversity Initiatives and Pipeline Programs to offer activities such as pre-orientation for incoming freshman, bus trips for Open House, receptions for parents and students, annual recognition efforts, a fall picnic, and other functions. Such support is also used to link up with other student organizations on campus to support leadership conferences/seminars/training programs, or academic challenges.
Some corporations offer expense paid site visits to introduce students to the corporate setting. This is an excellent opportunity for the student and corporation because both will gain insight into the company's operations and students can see and better understand what the company has to offer. This opportunity offers much more than the usual videotape presentation.
